Large, double flowers in spring, followed by single flowers later. The outer tepals are reddish pink, fading to pale pink at the edges. The inner tepals are palest pink with a narrow, deep pink stripe. The anthers are creamy-white. Spring and autumn flowering. (xB) This variety doesn't produce double flowers freely in a warmer climate, like zone 9. Long flowering season! |

This seems to be the correct name for Mary Rose (Fretwell) and is what Evison call 'Purpurea Plena'. This plant has got many more synonyms! (= C. peregrina purpurea flore pleno, C.Bauhinius,1623) and the International Clematis registrar wants it called 'Flore Pleno'. The closest available is 'Purpurea Plena Elegans'. |
