Large, double flowers in spring, followed by single flowers later. The outer tepals are reddish pink, fading to pale pink at the edges. The inner tepals are palest pink with a narrow, deep pink stripe. The anthers are creamy-white. Spring and autumn flowering. (xB) This variety doesn't produce double flowers freely in a warmer climate, like zone 9. Long flowering season!

Flowers rich purple-blue 7cm, tepals x4-5, anthers blackish red. Extremely vigorous! Dec-March. Suitable cut flower. (xC) Award of Garden Merit! This plant flowers in masses for a very long season. It even keep its lower leaves, so stays green all the way down. Outstanding performance!!

Miniature lily-tulip flowers in a luminous pink with a deep vibrant pink central bar, outside pale whitish pink. Tepals x4. Anthers yellow. Summer-autumn. (xC) Best seen clambering over low shrub or so. Also known as "The Princess of Wales" but had to be renamed. Botanic rules!!

Flowers supposedly fully double in first crop, rosy-lilac, second crop single, stamens cream. Moderate vigour. (xB) We had the first double in early autumn 1999! Generally single flowered with us. Long flowering season!

Cl. vit. 'Pulchella'
Not in NZ, as far as I know.
This seems to be the correct name for Mary Rose (Fretwell) and is what Evison call 'Purpurea Plena'. This plant has got many more synonyms! (= C. peregrina purpurea flore pleno, C.Bauhinius,1623) and the International Clematis registrar wants it called 'Flore Pleno'. The closest available is 'Purpurea Plena Elegans'.

Strong grower with flowers 6cm across, packed with tepals in a dense rosette. Soft "old rose" purple. Looks great as a companion plant (xC). Looking great with Cl. 'Huldine'. Cute cut flower!
